Kennedy Quilt

1998-1999 Original design with David Kehl. Pieced background with signatures using Jinny Beyer charms, three-dimensional fabric painted and appliqued planets and rocket.

This was a school project I led for the opening of a new school. Each student, teacher and staff in the school signed a block. The school mascot was the Kennedy Rockets, so the solar system theme was a great fit. The 5th grade art club painted the fabric for the planets. Volunteer parents and staff pieced the background and it was quilted on a long arm. The finished size is 110 x 125 inches.
